Nina and Ryan Day
“Being a coach, seeing the impact that things especially at a young age can have as they go through middle school, their teenage years, and then into college… Let's get out in front of this. I think at the end of the day we have a responsibility to young people to help them with their mental health, especially at a time when there's a lot of things going on.”
About Nina and Ryan
Nina Day and Head Coach Ryan Day have a deeply personal understanding of the essential connection between mental and physical health. Their family has experienced not only the pressures of collegiate athletics, but also the lasting impact of losing a loved one to suicide. In 2019, the Days established The Christina and Ryan Day Fund for Pediatric and Adolescent Mental Wellness at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, expanding their advocacy to support children’s mental health.
The Day Time Break Kit has become the cornerstone of their work with The Kids Mental Health Foundation, with a digital version for middle school classrooms now available in both English and Spanish. This year, thanks to the continued generosity of the Days and donors to The Day Fund, the Foundation has expanded the program to reach high school students and has developed a physical kit for middle school educators to use directly in their classrooms. To date, these mental wellness resources have been downloaded by teachers more than 310,000 times.
