Trauma and Grief Resources

Loss can happen a lot in a child's life - a divorce or separation in the family. A friendship or love that ends. The death of a loved one or beloved pet. A favorite teacher leaving. It can even be a big disappointment that results in losing something important.
Some of those losses can be traumatic, such as unexpected death of a family member or incarceration of a loved one. Children also my experience additional traumatic events such as abuse, neglect or seeing something terrible. Children going through trauma or loss may need extra help working though those experiences.
While loss, grief and trauma affect kids in many different ways, there are things that you can do to help them cope. We can help you talk with them about their experiences, as well as ideas on how to respond and some coping strategies that may help.
