About Daniel
Daniel Franzese is an actor, comedian, and activist whose career and advocacy have long centered on compassion, connection, and community. Known for his breakout roles in Bully and the cult classic Mean Girls, Franzese has consistently used his platform to highlight the impact of social dynamics especially around bullying, identity, and acceptance.
For the 10 years since his role as the HIV+ Eddie Bear in HBO’s Critically acclaimed series LOOKING Daniel has been a proud ambassador for the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation, helping raise funds and awareness for HIV and AIDS initiatives. including a decade of lobbying congress.In addition to his work with ETAF, he has supported numerous nonprofit organizations including The Trevor Project, 826LA, Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS, and more. In 2023, he received the LGBTQ Hero Award from World of Wonder, and in 2025, he was honored with the Visibility Vanguard Award by the New Pride Agenda in New York City for his continued leadership and visibility in the LGBTQ plus community.
Daniel’s personal journey, mental health journey of body acceptance and authenticity including his experience surviving conversion therapy, inspired him to co-create and host the GLAAD Award nominated podcast Yas Jesus, which explores the intersection of faith and queerness with humor, honesty, and heart.
Now, as an ambassador for the Kids Mental Health Foundation, Daniel continues his lifelong mission to foster empathy and belonging especially for young people. Through storytelling, advocacy, and lived experience, he is committed to supporting mental health education and helping families and kids feel less alone.
